COACHING POSITION   Defensive Line
BACKGROUND/BIO

I'm a husband to my wife Julie, father to our son Jack and teacher to your kids.

I get to teach AP US History, US History and AVID at WRHS and really cannot believe that I can actually spend my day talking about US History and getting kids ready for college.  Since I was a boy, history and especially US History has been a passion of mine.  If your kids take my class, they will learn that I make no apologies for this.  I'm a complete "history nerd" and proud of it!

I'm also getting interested in photography and still trying to figure out how to control aperture and shutter speed to make the camera do what I want it to do.  Once again, I've made the promise to myself that as soon as football season is over, I will turn my attention back to photography.

Recently, I've found the perfect blend of my interests for both football and history while researching the background of this team; I would love to talk to former players about the history of Hornet football.  It is my goal to bring back to light as much history as I can about this team and continue uploading that history to the webpage for everyone to read.  I have assembled a large collection of game programs, playbooks, photographs and game jerseys - all of which have been donated to the team for its archives.  If you have any Hornet memorabilia sitting in a closet you would like to contribute to the team's archives, I'd love to add either your originals or copies to the team's collection!

FAVORITE FOOTBALL MEMORY

In 2013, the unquestioned team to beat in the league was Fife and the pair of highly recruited linemen they were suiting up. We went to their stadium and with a dominating performance shut them down. It was, without a doubt, the most complete defensive performance I’ve ever had the opportunity to be part of. Our Defensive Coordinator, Coach Fagan, put us in a position to control the game the entire night, the kids made all the right reads and used all the right techniques to decisively win a game that no one in the league thought we would win. Later that night, we got a message from another head coach in the league who said, “You guys turned the whole league on its ear tonight.”  Messages like that don’t happen often.  It was a great night and a better team win!

FAVORITE FOOTBALL MEMORY

My favorite football memory is watching the 2014 Freshman team play and get Varsity reps at the Chief Sealth game.  The whole team came together and came out with a "W".  Amazing game and win!

YEARS COACHING   14 Years
YEARS AS A HORNET    8 Years
COACHING POSITION   Offensive Line Coach
BACKGROUND/BIO

I grew up in Longview, Washington where much of my family still lives.  My wife Amy and son Jesse and I have been in the Pierce County region for about 20 years now.  I came to White River in the fall of 2012.  I have really enjoyed my time here at White River and appreciate all of the support I have received from the community.

I teach Math at White River High School. Mostly Financial Literacy and Collection of Evidence to seniors.  I joined the football staff in 2013 keeping stats on Friday nights, and then as an assistant coach the following year.  Along with teaching and Football I am also the assistant fastpitch coach.

When I am not here at the high school, I enjoy spending time with my family and fishing. I have taught high school math since 2002 when I worked at Clover Park High School.  Jesse and I like to play video games like Mine Craft and any of the Super Mario games.

FAVORITE FOOTBALL MEMORY

Right after I graduated from R.A. Long High School, I had the opportunity to play in “The Down Under Bowl” it was there that I met coach McNulty before he came to White River.  In the championship game I played against Darrel Russell who ended up with a decent NFL career for the Oakland Raiders. There was a small article in the Longview Daily News quoting coach McNulty, praising me for my efforts against a division 1 athlete of his size.  That game we lost 6 – 0 against a team from California that had 7 players going to division 1 colleges.  We had zero division 1 players.

Go Hornets!!!!

When I’m not working I enjoy camping, hunting, and hiking, coaching football, riding my motorcycle in the mountains, and being a football ninja.

FAVORITE FOOTBALL MEMORY

My best football memory is the 2014 season when we played against Chief Sealth International High School. Both Andrew and Luke played defense together that night, Luke was playing Outside Linebacker and Andrew was Strong Safety right behind him.  It was great times watching my sons work together on the field doing what they love most.
